World Book Day

Today, the children and staff took part in the postponed World Book Day which had to be cancelled from last week due to the snow.  Lots of the children came to school dressed as their favourite book character, and classes shared stories and thoughts about their favourite books.  Many of the staff got dressed up too!  Well done to everyone who dressed up (and who helped with the costumes).  At the end of the day, we were very fortunate to welcome Danielle Brown to lead our assembly.  The double-gold medal Paralympian, turned author, read her children’s book to the whole school.  The children really enjoyed listening to the story and meeting Danielle.  A lovely day was had by all.

Winter Wonderland At Willington Primary School!

Today is certainly a winter wonderland at Willington.  The children enjoyed time this morning having fun on the playing field playing in the snow.  The back of the Year 2 classroom took its fair share of snowballs, and some children even managed to make a snowman, despite the snow being quite powdery.  We hope that you enjoy the photos!

Year 1 Class Assembly

This morning was Year 1’s Class Assembly all about the Great Fire of London.  We told everyone all about the fire, including when and where it started, all about how they stopped the fire and what happened after the fire.  There was lots of singing and dancing and some super acting too!  We showed some of our art work and some brilliant fact books we made on 2Publish!

We hope everyone enjoyed our class assembly as much as we enjoyed performing it!

Maths Day – Year 4

The Year 4 pupils have been busy creating parabolic artwork based on straight lines and the axes of graphs.  By using straight lines, they created the illusion of a curved line and a 3D shape.

The children also investigated symmetry, using a compass to create different circles and colouring the different sectors within these appropriately based on four lines of symmetry.
